For all these are stressful times. The pandemic of Coronavirus has changed the way we live and the way we function. Most of us not only learn to work from home, we actually don’t know what the future holds. And the complexity is difficult to handle.

And with many people being locked up, alone and maintaining social isolation, anxiety will gain momentum.

People around the world are fearful of their loved ones ‘safety, their livelihoods and their own lives, not knowing what will happen to their jobs and finances. And what can we all do to control and deal with our feelings of helplessness?

Mind and Body: It’s important to make sure you take breaks regularly. While we are restricted in our movements, for example, a half hour walk every day will work wonders. And sit in your garden (if you have one). There are other ways to work out at home, such as video workouts. So why not use a meditation program to help relax your mind? Make sure that you really get a good night’s sleep.

Remote connection: Connection with colleagues through frequent video calls is extremely important for mental well-being, as it fosters a sense of belonging. Learning how to handle a remote workforce is important for those top teams. If you are dealing with your boss then be honest about it, don’t keep it bottled inside.

Stay in touch: FaceTime, WhatsApp or Houseparty video calls and texts will help relieve some of your loved ones ‘worries and health issues. Encourage your friends and family to join in for a virtual tea or coffee. Or maybe just interacting with old friends.

Switch off: While keeping up to date with the medical and government recommendations in the news is vital, we have to be careful not to overdo it. It can become an addiction that fuels anxiety. Make sure you have time to relax and do whatever you want.

For although we’re not able to control external events, we can control how we react to them.
